Of course we have family and friends there.

That does make a difference.

And we have a couple of favorite places we visit.
What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas.

My nephew's wife used to work for a safety company in Newtown and she would be sent there every year. She would bring back SHOT Show items. A very good event.

Half the folks in my office from various departments will be there, unfortunately (or perhaps fortunately) I'll be here holding down the fort, for us it can be a pretty grueling week. The setup, crowds and tear down at the end all make for some long days.

I feel your pain - week long (from arrival to tear down) trade shows, days that start at 5 and end at 11, and a dozen hours per day standing on a hard coliseum floor are the stuff of nightmares. You just reminded me how glad I am to be retired.

I’ll pass and drink directly from the bottle.

Hey Trix,

Hope all is well, I'm approaching that point myself, another 6 years to go.

I will be in a booth talking about riflescopes. I am not in the industry, but I am a long-time long range competitive shooter with a few medals and a passion for optics that started with cameras in the 1960 and carried over to sports optics. I'm doing this as a favor to a friend.

I did computer industry shows for 30+ years as a vendor and I know only too well about the long hours. Thankfully, I don't do the setup or tear down for this show.

If anyone is going, PM me and maybe you can stop by the booth and visit.

Harrisburg is easier for me. It’s a great venue, and refreshing to see all the great people that cherish the Right.

By far the most interesting and entertaining but most grueling of the trade shows was the Super Computing show that alternated between east and west coast locations and occurred a week or two before Thanksgiving. I will probably go as an attendee next time it’s in a fun city, but no more booth duty for me 😸. Anyway, enjoy SHOT - I’m sure there will be interesting exhibits, old friends to catch up with, and your hands-on expertise will be appreciated. What company’s booth will you be in?

I did Comdex for many years and MANY other shows, notably HP World. The whole computer trade show scene came to a crashing halt in the early 2000, supplanted by the Internet/World Wide Web. I do a few shows still but they are very small and very focused.

As for where I will be at SHOT, I'd rather not say publicly; there are a lot of weird people here.

Who's optics? If you don't mind my asking. The reason I ask is we'll also have optics in addition to a wide array of other product offerings.

Thanks - got it - I understand completely, just didn’t occur to me. Last time I was in Vegas for a show (NAB I think), my coworker (who had just had an outstanding year) rented a Ferrari from one of the exotic car rental companies in the area and we drove it up to Hoover Dam. Can’t remember the name of the small town going back west, but on the outskirts, I just nailed it, and the sound of a Ferrari V8 at 9K RPM about a foot behind your head is unforgettable! Backed out at 120+ based on the look of terror from my passenger. Very inconsiderate of me. But I digress...
