Funny Story tonight on the news. People called in reporting a body floating in shallow water just below a dam. The fire department and police a news reporter and the Coronor arrived. As they were all standing on the waters edge figuring out what to do, the man sat up. Seeing all the emergency personell around, he got up and walked out of the river. It seems he was just hot and decided to lay down in the water, and fell asleep. All the commotion didn't even wake him, he said a Dragon Fly landed on his nose and awoke him. All was well in the end, and everyone had a good laugh, even the reporters on site filming the incident. MadMike
I imagine the news reporter was able to make the most of that situation, but for the county it was an expensive chuckle!

Why would that be an added expense for the county? Aren't those people already on duty? Unless they were called in on overtime, shouldn't their expense be part of the budget? Just wonderin'.

MadMike, I saw the story and I thought it was a happy ending and very funny.
hahahahah.....that's CLASSIC ! If that had been in the UK no doubt he would have been carted off and checked for mental illness. That's assuming that the fire service or the Police were ALLOWED to go into the water in the first place ( nope NOT kidding )Health and safety rule over here .

Fuel for the equipment to get there and go back to quarters.

Don't they budget for that, too?
Your missing the point. It was FUNNY, and all ended well. The man did not do it deliberately to cause an comotioin. No one was upset, and even laughed about it.

With all of the cuts the fire departments have to make, there is not much room in the budget for false alarm calls.
This is a good funny story. Thank you for sharing.
