Fantastic subject but looks to me like the layers are not properly aligned and there was some leaf movement. (Though hard to be certain without seeing a larger version.) If you look at the branches at the base of the signpost I think you will see ghosting which is a sure sign of misalignment. What process/software did you use to combine the images?

The alignment is my bad... I was hand-holding these and there was a good breeze. Not recommended!

Love the scene. Sometimes it can be good to make a pseudo-hdr from one image if you have decent overall exposure and there is movement in the trees or camera shake, Photomatix does pretty good with just one image.

I use Photomatix and used the one image approach for the Calla Lily in this forum. Actually, I adjusted the levels to replicate, +1 and -1 EV and then processed the three. But I'll try what you suggested.

Thanks!

I like the composition. The road leads you into and out of the covered bridge. The detail in the top of the cover gives it extra appealing. I would expect the light from the little openings to be blown out, and that doesn't bother me.
Where is this bridge located? It is such a tranquil looking place.
Thanks for posting it.

Yachats is on the Central Oregon Coast, just south of Waldport. We take the state highway from I5 west (Corvallis exit) to Waldport. The bridge is just south of Yachats and then east about 10-12 miles off of 101

On my map it appears it may be in the Cummins Creek Wilderness area or there abouts. That is more than a day trip; 299 miles, with a 5 ½ hours driving time for me.
I bet it would be a great drive down the coast on 101 however.

It looks like you nailed it with the 5 images at 1 stop increments. Great shot. Wonderful composition of a beautiful subject. I really like a natural look when using HDR and you nailed that also.

Lovely work ShooterOR. I would crop off the top a bit and the left margin (cropping off the bit of yellow/black striped post) to off-centre the covered bridge.

Very nice. We'll be in Yachats next Wed. Hopefully we can find this covered bridge if we have time. Thanks for sharing.

I like this. I think you did a good job especially doing it hand held. I can see the ghosting and leaf movement but I have been looking at the HDR type of pictures for months now. I'm no expert but I would bet your average person wouldn't even notice the movement to much. I would love to see the same shot done on a tripod because it is such a tranquil scene.

Thanks. I am planning to get out this week-end and hopefully do some street scenes, either early in the morning or in the evening. The morning is actually better because less traffic/people-- I can set up in the street.

We managed to find the bridge. I took several bracketed shots from the other side of the bridge than you did. I merged them into an HDR image and used the content aware fill to remove the sign in front of the bridge that was so distracting.

why does this look so much darker after I uploaded it???
