Doesn’t Nikon have a support forum or a CS number? Did you do the simple obvious thing.... like pull the battery, etc? 🙄🤔🤨

A sad feeling no doubt. As mentioned, pull battery, turn it on/off one or two times while battery is out, re-install. Try using "reset" buttons while in "on" position, even if it looks "off", should be mentioned somewhere in the manual, if more than one battery, try several "fully charged". Operate the on/off switch a few times, wiggle it, etc., see if anything happens. Check the contacts (if you can see them) if recessed on the battery, blow them out, or drop a couple drops of alcohol on them and blow that out - batteries need good clean contact. If nothing helps see what Nikon has to say. Good luck.

Welcome to the forum. Clean contacts of battery and camera with alcohol. Try a second battery. If that fails, send it to Nikon for service.

Welcome, SW. Be sure to let us P900 owners know what you find out.

Can I ask, is this a brand new camera or have you used it for a while? If it is not new, has it acted strangely in any manner whatsoever, in the recent past?

I took a look at that battery, it has a very simple press/touch connection, look inside the battery compartment and make sure the contacts all protrude approximately the same distance (making good contact) and make sure none are bent or broke off. Or, put a piece of soft tape (masking tape or painters tape would be good) over each contact, put the battery in and locked. Then pull out the battery and look for pressure marks on the battery tabs indicating contact of the plus and minus terminals. If they show contact marks, and battery is fully charged, then look to the camera on/off switch....wiggle and rock it gently as you turn it on and off and see if any response is indicates it trying to turn on. Don't forget to take the tape off when done looking for contact marks.

Since it is Nikon, when you put in a memory card usually a light "lights up" momentarily indicating the camera is connecting with the memory card...if it does not do that, I'd suspect an internal issue. Good luck.

My Nikon d7100 would not shut off the other day. So, I took out the battery and started wondering where I could get it repaired. After reading this article, I got the alcohol out along with a qtip and gave all contact points a good cleaning and low and behold the camera was like new. Thanks to the UHH gang for a solution to the problem. tHANKs

Try a battery that is 90-95%
