For me #4 is the best of the series. It adds color tone to the waves without additional distractions keeping the surfer as the main subject. As for the others, the influence of your layers and filters distracts too much away from the surfer. I am finding out as I try different techniques on my pictures I become one of the minority that approves. So with this in mind if you like your results then they are all Great!

BTW love almost all of your surfer shots with great results. They are outstanding without compromise.

I preferred your straight shots and thought they were interesting and done very well.

Brent, your artistic efforts are unique and should be very commercially viable. I can see any of these on the cover of some surfing publication or video. The fourth and fifth are my favorites.

Whoa, Brent! This is huge! Not that surfer photos are ever "ordinary and everyday" (especially in my neck of the woods) but you have taken photos of surfers and surf, breaking waves and tossed bodies to another level! And they are all exciting! Exceptional use of color dynamics, adding emotion to the scene.

Great pics - #3 and #5 perfect for hanging on a plain wall.

Good point Delderby........the images have a lot going on with the patterns so a plain wall would be good.

#4 and #5 work particularly well Brent. The colours and effects are spot-on.

Great shots!
I’ll be in the Huntington Beach, Newport area in a month or so and want to TRY and get some surfing shots. Any suggestions on locations, time of day? Tnx

Dannj, the best time of day is early morning golden hour and late afternoon golden hour. Go out on the pier to get close to the surfers. Enjoy!

Carly, I always love your analysis of photos. You seem to have an insight that no other has. You see past the surface and get down to the core and usually hit the nail on the head. Thank you!

It's always fun to see what can happen to the surfer photos in PP. Here are 5 of them.
They are best viewed in download mode.

Excellent work sir! Your eye has it even well after the shot was taken.
