Does anybody else see Waldo in #1? (hint: he's near the ladder)

Interesting information Linda. I love the tunnel effect in #1, and of course the high key/fog of #3. Bev

Interesting photographs well taken. Love the first, waiting for Frodo to walk by.

That was exactly my impression as well! Very "Mirkwood" in winter...

I've never seen the movies or read the books, so I'll have to take your word

Thank you for the information, Mike. I've gotten over my disappointment that is is a different kind of photo op than "our grandparents' apple trees"

I hope a little background information augments rather than detracts from people's appreciation of your images.

I can remember the day about 20 years ago when my boss's wife said "the high density orchard is in bloom. You have to go get some pictures!" It seemed pretty exotic and exciting. My thinking should have been "oh oh, I had better get out there and get pictures of the older full-sized trees before they are all gone."

Since you so generously allow photogs to "play" with your images, I want to borrow an idea from Magnetoman and offer your image with severe desaturation of the colors. I think it brings out the "old" and "gnarly" aspects of the orchard. I also like the fact that the ladder is "lost" in the branches. Its twisted shape makes for a delightful surprise when noticed.

"Old" and "Gnarly"
"Old" and "Gnarly"...

Thank you, Michael! This looks great and has me scratching my head as to why I didn't try it since I did, in fact, desaturate the reds. The below is truer color of the trees. Guess I couldn't see the forest for the, uh...how does that go?

Much appreciated!!
