Well, after some suggestions that I applied, here is what I came up with. I had to do some major cropping, but overall I’m somewhat pleased with the outcome.

This was just an experience for me. I’m not sure how much more I’ll shoot of this kind of photography.

Thanks for any comments. Be gentle. I’m old.

Shouldn’t the chess pieces be in the squares?

Great image. Love the lighting, gives the pieces depth.

Quite engaging. Very nice use of light and shadows. Can you re-arrange the pieces or are they anchored? It'd be neat to see more "horse" (forgot the name) and Queen/King, less pawn.

Why should I be gentle because yer old? age means you've done more, you've experienced the barbs and roses of criticism, you should be tough enuff to consider comments without the sugar coating that hides the truth. When asked why are the chessmen in the wrong positions just say cause that's where I put em. they look better there. and if you actually have a reason for the arrangement Then I guess that you f**d up, cause the meaning escapes me. Anyway I like it.

― Karl Lagerfeld

Linda from Maine - It depicts order vs. chaos, the pawns are purposefully aligned poor beggars, whereas the rich and powerful obey no law (Trump)

If you look close, the pieces are on the proper squares of light/dark... The squares are painted or stained and align with each other. The concrete blocks are offset so can't become the chess board.

Well Done in the black & white. Did you try a color picture looking down the "faces" of the non-pawns as they are aligned?

Ya know, I didn’t even pay attention. I was trying to reshoot the set before anyone came out to play a game. I just lined them up in the middle of four squares so it would be more likely that I had consistency.

Thank you!

Although they weren’t anchored, I’m now back home in Indio, CA. This shot was taken in Scottsdale while I was visiting.
