I've been accused of a lot of things........
Thank You, but nope, no Irish connection that I am aware of.

Got together yesterday with a very experienced friend to go over the camera and do a bit of shooting. His 2 newest cameras are a 6DII and a 5DIV, so, he certainly knows current capabilities. He was favorably impressed with the capabilities and features of the EOS R, agreeing that, frame rate aside, it was capable of doing pretty much anything anyone would want to do with a camera. The overall look, feel, build and controls placement was fine for him. He also agreed that balance was no issue. We only had the RF 24-105 lens on it but on the times when I have put on the adapter and my EF 100-400 L II I have not experienced any balance issues. Just pick it up and shoot and it feels perfectly natural to me.
He did loan me a couple of his older, inexpensive lenses to see how they perform on the camera. I've never used either one. An EF 22-55mm f/4-5.6 USM and a EF 50mm f/1.8 STM. I'll have to experiment with them later and, hopefully, produce some shots that show the camera's capabilities and not my lack thereof!

Frame rate is something I have come to worry about less and less. I used to rely on it and wanted the highest rate I could get. But experience led me first to shift to focus priority when shooting in burst and then, for events I know well, frequently go single shot. I was finding that in burst mode, the one shot I really wanted is the one where the camera missed focus. If I know the event well enough, I am confident that I can get the right shot with one or two exposures. The EOS R rate in focus priority would probably be OK for me, if it was nailing every shot.

Frame rate is not a big deal for me either. In fact, I just got rid of my 7DII. I found that even for sports and sometimes BIF that I preferred my 5DIV.

Here is a shot I just took. Leaned out the window to get one of the feral cats we care for. They never get far from the heated beds we have for them!
Shot with the 50mm f/1.8 I had mentioned.
Shot wide open at f/1.8, 1/320, ISO 400, handheld, RAW. No editing, just converted to jpeg. Focus was on the cat's left eye.
Not quite as sharp and crisp as shots taken with my RF 24-105, but, considering that it's a very inexpensive lens I think it did pretty good.
