Loc: San Francisco Bay Area
Years ago there were dozens of small fishing villages scattered around San Francisco Bay, populated by Chinese fishermen. They went out in traditional fishing boats like this one, providing dried fish and shrimp to San Francisco. Over time they have all disappeared, victims of declining water quality and prejudicial laws.
One such village has been preserved as a park named China Camp, on the edge of San Rafael. This boat was built there (more than a decade ago now), using the same construction techniques that the Chinese brought with them from the home country.
