I discuss this (the X2) in my aircraft design class. It demonstrated technologies that are being used in the new S-97 military helicopter. The video is deceptive, as the shutter makes the rotor blades look like they are spinning much slower than actual, which is somewhere around 300 RPM (they actually slow down in high speed forward flight). The Eurocopter X3 achieves similar performance, but does so with a different design.
