If you look at the high reeds in the background and how thick they are, I am shooting through the same thing from my location which is knocking down the detail in the photo. Normally I would not post a shot like this but this is the only time I have been able to even get a photo of a group of white pelicans in all the years I have been trying. I spent most of the day chasing these just to get this shot.

Nice catch, you going to tell where you found them?

I found these on the Pascagoula river in Mississippi. I can't even guess the days and hours I have spent trying to get a shot of a group of these pelicans. The funny thing is that people post pictures of them where I live a lot but they just seem to know I am coming and leave. I am still on a quest for a good shot but in the meantime this will have to do. lOL

Wishing you good luck. My nemesis is the owl.

An owl is also on my list but I don't even know where to look for one of them. I have a couple of owl photos but they were taken at a renaissance fair.

Great download and think it was well worth the chase, Grandpaw and will never forget my wife and my's first encounter with them. We were visiting Merritt Island and had stopped and stepped out of the vehicle to view with binoculars several trees in the distance filled with egrets and ibis when all of a sudden a few very large white birds started rising from the water followed by more and still more and began slowly making large circles to gain altitude and getting higher and higher with each loop and appeared so white with the sun shining on them. After they the were quite high in the air this beautiful spoonbill flew across below them---what a sight and although we were not able to take an image hope that it will stay in our memories to our last days! Take care!

Hey Grandpaw, you did good. It is difficult to get them all together like this. I lucked out 2 year ago here in Florida. Found a place along the waterway. Let me know if you would like to see them.

Patience. That makes it all the more fun when you finally get what you want.
