Ugly Echidna? It is a Marsupial (from Australia). It looks a bit like a Hedgehog. But the spines are more like a Porcupine than a Hedgehog.

Not at all ugly....and well presented by you. The spine details are super.

nothing ugly about this cute critter. They eat ants.
how can you not love a spikey little critter that cruises around and eats bugs?
I think it is cute...
- nice capture by the way.
And they are not marsupials, rather they belong to a group of mammals called Monotremes; these are mammals that lay eggs.
I gave a book report in 6th grade about the Echidna and the Platypus which is how I know.
FYI (as copied from Wikipedia):
Mammals can be divided into three more groups based on how their babies develop. These three groups are monotremes, marsupials, and the largest group, placental mammals. Monotremes are mammals that lay eggs. The only monotremes that are alive today are the spiny anteater, or echidna, and the platypus.
Really nice photo. Very sharp.

You know, you're right about that. It is a Monotreme, like a Platypus. I had not looked it up, I knew it was an Echidna. I should have remembered what (few) animals are Monotremes as I do have a degree in Biology!

Sorry, sorry, sorry, I should have made it more clear it was a Web Image, not mine. I just posted it as a joke "Ugly Echidna" instead of "Ugly Hedgehog". Seems no one got the joke or cared. Jokes are a failure when you have to explain them.
Nevermind...

It's cute, not ugly, just like the hedgehog.
