Fall is a great time to ride the train. I know you can ride to Silverton and take a bus back to Durango, not sure about the other way around. I don't think it makes much difference for photos, but going up from Durango is a winner no matter what! These photos were taken from the Rockwood area. You have to walk up the tracks a way then right before a little bridge go up the hill side and walk to the overlook area. It is not far, but you do sort of need to know where you are going and technically you are not supposed to walk on the tracks.... oops! Well, there are lots of photographers who do the same thing!
