I see you shot 1/800@6400 with 1.8 lens. About what would I try with the 100mm 2.8. 1/640ss? keep 6400iso? thanks
Sensor: I imagine it would depend on the gym's lighting. There all different as you know.
I would at warm ups (get to the game early) and try different settings. Start at shutter speed of 1/640 at 2.8 and adjust your iso accordingly. Varsity game with the boys 1/800 at 2.8 again adjust iso, then 1/1000 at 2.8 and adjust. Look at your images on the back of the camera at 100% and see the clarity, exposure, etc. Trial and error. Again at the warm ups. Then your set. Auto white balance.
Good luck and remember at high iso shoot tight.

I see that one player is wearing a shield on his face. Have never seen that. Just wondering
Just like Jules said keep at it, you WILL get it. For some of us it just takes a little longer. It will all be worth it in the end believe me. I think we as photographers are all looking for THAT SHOT. You know the once in a life time shot that everyone is going to say that is the best shot I have ever seen. We may never achieve that but we are chasing that!! OH yea the mask, he either like Jules said broke his nose or he was poked in the eye. Thanks keep it up.

Thanks Tom. Kind of like Chasing a dream----Only I'm (we are) Chasing that Shot!!
Very nice! I was also marveling at how little noise is in your photos. I hate to think what my D7000 would look like at ISO 6400.
