Hello,
I am new to this site, and new to digital photography. I really enjoying taking pictures, but I have so much to learn! I live in the upper most part of North Western Vermont and our Fall foliage is glorious, but I shoot other pictures as well! I would like to share some of my pictures with you, your comments would help me to become a better photographer. Happy Fall!

Fall Foliage in Vermont
You live in one of the beautiful places in the world so have lots of opportunities to make photographs. The picture of the fall foliage is good but the foreground is distracting; The grasshopper is ok, being centered makes it look static and doesn't lead anyone anywhere. Why did you take the stream picture from where you took it - it has potential but the tree in the center foreground makes me not look any deeper into the photograph, the overexposure is distracting; the overall subject is good and worth developing. Are you sure those are pines, they look more like spruce or fir. Best Wishes and Happy Fall!
Beautiful...Is the Foliage shot recent???
Yes, they were taken in Montgomery Vermont last Sunday afternoon.
Thank's for your help Doc. What do you find such a distraction in the foliage picture, the brush? I live here, and I am used to how things look from the road, but when you see something everyday, you can loose perspective on it.
As for the tree in the middle of the stream picture, you made me laugh a bit. I hadn't noticed it. I was holding on to a tree trunk, right near the edge of a ledge when I took it. There was no other place to take a picture there, it's loaded with trees, and the drop off to the water is about twenty feet. It's just a place I have always enjoyed going to, because it is so hidden. Also, your comment on the pines vs fir trees made me laugh a bit. The whole place is loaded with pine trees all the way down until the hill, until you get right to the ledge area, and there, you're right! The trees are firs indeed. You're too funny.
Thanks again for your help. I don't have a fancy camera, or a fancy lens. Just a Fuji digital, 14 mega pixels. I do want to learn more about subject matter, and balance... it's nice to make a friend who is willing to help me with that.
I hope you are enjoying your Fall,
Julie
