Just got my first DSLR been a cell phone picture taker for to long . Took these pics with the 75-300 mm kit lens that came with camera a full zoom no tripod . Processed them with the software that came with the camera . any thoughts or suggestions as to what might be done to improve the quality Besides the obvious I am planning on getting a tripod next . Thank You for your Input . Oh and yes as I am new to this these were taken on Auto Setting . on A Canon Sl1

Hi Bluto. To start, you may wish to work on your composition. In each image your subject is in the middle of the frame, which is generally not a good idea unless the subject completely, or nearly, fills that frame. If it is not possible to compose when taking the shot, you can rectify this through cropping after the fact.
I will not attempt to additionally analyze each photo, but will let others weigh in. Make sure you completely read the camera's manual. Happy shooting and enjoy your new camera.
Welcome. A great start. I see nothing in these images that a tripod would improve. I'd hold off spending any more money until you really decide what you want to do as a photographer.
Birds are difficult, and you can NEVER get too close.
Many will, and I concur, tell you to learn the exposure triangle...really learn it (Google it and find videos for a good introduction).
As you learn that, the natural progression is to leave auto and find the strengths of S A M (or your Canon equivalent) so you can stop taking pictures and start creating images.
