Hi SENSORLOUPE. I think the last two could have been shot tighter. Most of these seem to be a little on the dark side underdeveloped but nice shots though. Let's see what Jules says about these he is the one that will know. Thanks keep posting.

Hi
Leveling better - but look at each shot and really pick the strong line in back. In most of your shots, the stands were there. Use that. Only 2&3 really costs You are still about 3-5 degrees CCW.

Still like what we are seeing in the tighter shots, especially 5 & 6. I think that extra reach of the 100 vs 85 paid off, but you obviously paid a price in light (hence the ISO). How do you find the focus speed?

Thanks David. I try to use the stands for leveling, but when they get close enough to shoot --I loose it!! ha! Focus speed seemed ok on the 100 vs the 85. I am always afraid of getting washed out shots, soth that's probably why they are darker. Higher ISO? Shooting again tonite. These were 1/500@ iso5000 or 4000. Mostly 5000

Hi Tom

Oh, now I get it. Try as you might to get it right “in camera”, I can tell you that I am always off about 2 degrees CCW. Fix it in PP. Sorry to have misled you. Don’t worry about it while you are shooting - get the shot first and foremost, then fix after.

you didn't mislead!! I just don't like fixing and don't have PP. Do you think Higher ISO , than 5000? I will be taking the 100 again tonite. Can you give me some settings to try? I am shooting manual. Maybe that is my prob? Maybe go back to Shutter priority? thanks Tom

Where is Jules???

Hi

On settings, it looks like your SS is pretty close. depending on the game, I find it between 1/400 and 1/640. I generally shoot AP at f4 or wider, often 2.8 or 3.2 (2.8 is as wide as I go). Normally, at the point, I should autoISO with a cap of about 6400 on my D7200, but I hope to get ISO at 3200 or less if the light allows.

As far a straightening, I don’t don’t like doing much either (which plays well with get it right in the camera), but a bit of crop and rotation is pretty quick and will help the results quite a bit. If I am looking for speed, I do this with .jpegs, and use auto color and auto exposure in the PP program. I generally shoot Raw+jpeg and if I have a really good shot that needs it, will then go work the raw, but I would say this is less than 1 in 50 or 100.

Jules, I hope, is out shooting......

David

Always always shoot manual. Get to know the camera, lens, shutter speed and shoot wide open. Adjust iso, the cameras of today will let you go to at least 6400 shoot tight.
