Was there in November. The only thing I would caution you on is the currency. They use two types. One which is totally worthless and one that is exchanged 1:1 with the dollar. The way you can tell the difference is. The worthless one has portraits of people on it, the good one has pictures of buildings on it. Very important. Just like in any other country watch your stuff. Beautiful country and the people are very friendly. Have a good time.

I recently took a small-ship cruise that circumnavigated the island. Lots of good photo opportunities in Old Town Havana, Vinales Valley (tobacco farms), Santiago (including the Moncada Garrison and the changing of the guard at the national cemetery), Trinidad (the port of Casilda, the old town of colonial Trinidad, and Brunet Palace are some of the many photogenic spots), Cienfuegos (a UNESCO site), Nueva Gerona on the Island of Youth (including the former prison where the Castro brothers et al were held), and the Bay of Pigs (snorkeling over sunken landing craft).

Just driving through the countryside, you can gets lots of shots of Cuban life -- families driving horse-drawn carts to town, rural homes, street-side vendor stalls etc. Check my Shutterfly site for photos from my trip.

Have a great time!

Thanks, sounds as if I will be visiting many of the same places. Looking forward to it!
