I just renewed my Sirius radio prescription. They wanted a monthly payment of $19.99 for a year. I'm not paying $240 for a year when last year's charge was $75/yr. Evidently, you have to speak to a "specialist" when renewing. The first person you get when you call is not a specialist. They transfer you to the specialist after they see they're not getting anywhere with you and they're not getting the $240 from you.
The "specialist" was very nice and didn't argue with me and we came to an agreement for 1 year at $71.17. That's about $4 less than last year.
My advice is to ask right away to speak with the "specialist" and not waste your time with the 1st person you talk to.
I wonder if there are a few customers out there that actually renew at the price shown in the email they send you. If you don't call them and re-negotiate, they will charge your credit card the full amount.
Thought some of you folks would be interested to know this.

That is why I opted for a bill and pay by check. If they have your credit card, you cannot refute the rack rate charge if you don't cancel on time. They charge $2 for a paper bill but it helps save me some hassle. The first time I got stung on the credit card was when they charged me much more that the price I negotiated over the phone. I had no effective recourse. I also quit until the price comes down to what I expect is reasonable.

I am at $6 per month and paid the full year at once. You are correct, just ask for a supervisor right off the bat.

For the senior citizens in this group, twice now I've gotten the following deal from Sirrus: Over a year go about 2 days before my contract (3 months free when purchased a new car), I insisted on not renewing my contract, primarily due to being retired and on a fixed and limited income. When it became obvious I would accept nothing but cancelling my contract, I let the "supervisor" talk me into taking 6 months for $36.00. Yes, that is $72.00 per year but it is, to my mind, about as reasonable as we'll ever get.

That's about right, Floyd. I'm paying $71.17 per year.

I had Sirius XM in both my car and motorcycle. Since I'm only interested in music, especially when I'm on the motorcycle I decided Sirius XM radio was a waste of time and money. I copied thousands of songs from a hard drive to USB thumb drives and I rotate them between the car and the motorcycle and play them on the random setting. As far as I'm concerned it's a way better deal than paying for a radio service.

I pay 72.00 a year for Sirius and always have. I never talk to any person other than the person I get on the phone when I call to cancel.

I call 3 days before it's due to renew and tell them I'm cancelling because of the price hike, after they suggest a few things to me I refuse unless they can do it at the exact same price.

They do.

This last time they tried to raise it $1.68 in the 6 month premium and I refused that too.

They complied.

It takes 15 minutes of my time once every 6 months.

With all of the free radio stations around, I have never figured out why anyone would pay for a service like that. TOO MUCH MONEY?

I paid $299.00 for a lifetime subscription. They do not do that any longer.

Because what's on Sirius is different than what's on the regular radio stations and that's what we prefer to listen to?

They will offer you a great deal is you give them a credit card #. In the fine print you are giving them permission to renew your subscription at the exorbitant price of $240 which they will charge to your card on their file.
