Wondering if anyone is succumbing to Flickr pressure to pay for what we had before for free. I, for one, am not. I deleted my entire portfolio and RE-posted one photo. Easier to start over than review all my photos and edit. They seem to think we need them for cloud storage and backup. They don’t get that the quality of their files is not such we could use for backup. Uploading the one photo I have retained at jphowphotos. Any other thoughts.
Not much has changed for me. I have been a Pro for at least 10 years. I will stay with them.
I am keeping the account as I find it useful. It is easy to let my family see pics of a family event and there are a few pros I follow. I find it convenient to upload through LR. I will only keep a small number of photos on the site going forward.
I just deleted nearly 4,000 photos from Flickr. I have a paid account on SmugMug, which now owns Flickr. If it weren't for the fact that I can use my Flickr photos as a screensaver on my AppleTV, I'd delete everything. As it is, I'll upload just a few hundred "keepers" so I can enjoy them on it.
I don't have a thousand great images unlike others. I have 100 of my better images posted and when I upload, I remove one in replacement.
I've been paying (a small yearly fee) for years. And probably will continue. For me...nothing changed. As far as quality, what you upload is the biggest factor. I've seen some amazing photos on Flickr. A great site to share in Photography.
I succumbed.
I keep flickr for the odd posting of pictures that I want to embed for folks or share and that's where my digital pictures live...unlike my film stuff which are in binders in my darkroom.
I'm with RichardTaylor and Strodav. I've been a Flickr Pro subscriber for a long time, ever since Flickr was bought by Yahoo! and I migrated my photos off Yahoo! Photos to it. I also had several thousand photos on Webshots and when they were bought by Smile and changed their operating procedures, I moved all those to Flickr, too. I have 45,000 pictures on Flickr--it's where I put my travel photos for others to enjoy (and for me to relive my experiences). I particularly like the ability to organize my pictures hierarchically into Albums, Collections, and higher-level Collections.
When Flickr was gobbled up by SmugMug, they stated that the service provided to Flickr users would not change. That the purchase would open up additional features to Flickr users. In a sense, that part of the story is true. But they failed to mention the rest of that story, limiting our use. And for that reason, I will not pay their fees and I have deleted my pictures and I will no longer expose their site to family, friends and customers.

Me too!
I've been paying for a pro account for years now, and it's still the best value around, even now at twice the price of a little over $4 a month. Think about that monthly price which is probably around what you now pay daily for one or two cups of coffee! Is there anything else that you buy on a regular basis, daily, weekly, or monthly that will only cost you 4 bucks??...doubt it

I reduced the number of images on my page significantly, when I get near the limit again I'll go back and eliminate some more of the older images, Bob.
I've been a "PRO" member for years. While I don't like the price increase, it's still less costly than many other sites...I'm staying...
I'm staying and staying free since I only have a few hundred images posted. I only post one or two images weekly and sometimes not that. I want to stay part of the "flickr family" - lots of valuable information there and really nice work posted.

I have been a Pro member for 12 years. I have a significant number of carefully curated travel albums on Flickr, almost like a travel blog, with descriptions and tags. I get a lot of traffic on my site. I like that I can upload and view images at a high resolution. I still think that Flickr is the best way to show and view quality images. I also can easily share images with family and friends. I will definitely stay.
