Just thought I'd post this pic and see if anyone else finds it as interesting as I do. I'm not really sure why, but thought I'd give my thoughts and see if anyone else sees it?
I met a guy in a parking lot near me to try a lens he had for sale. After I replaced my lens, I looked up and saw this woman and was drawn to shoot her. After I converted it to b&w and played with it a bit I came up with this. Subject wise It kinda violates the rule of thirds (her in center), but I think the geometric lines of the staircase and colums carries it? To me, the b&w lends to the darkness related to smoking, but there also seems to be a bit of peacefullness in her face and pose. The lines in the pic kinda make me crazy...but in a drawing way. Another cool thing is the rust drips on the stairway, in contrast to the light and airy decoration just behind her thru the window (as well as reflections of trees and sky in the windows) Kinda of a wierd blend.... maybe it's just me? I welcome any thoughts.

You are so correct on the "rule of thirds".... Good interesting shot...... The distracting thing to me is the non- levelness of it...

I tried to correct that in the b&w...should I have corrected it more? thanks for your input....
I like the image, think I like the colored version better and glad you straightened it out, but I agree the lines from the staircase really help the image.
I did crop your image let me know what you think.

I like it very much. Makes it a little less busy. Reduces the lens distortion on the bottom mortor line of the wall she's leaning on too. Thanks for your consideration...
Like the color picture best. One of my art teachers told me that, first you learn the rules, then you can break them. It's a neat picture and it works well, regardless of the rule of thirds.
Thanks for your thoughts. I just had this image keep popping up every few days and was wondering what was drawing me to it? I'll bet we all have 1 or 2 that are not "so special" but there is something about them. Funny how that works. Thanks Boscobear :D
