I've never seen anything like this before, thanks for posting it! I'll have to see if they have one for my cam, or one that would fit it.

That's a pretty good price. I'd buy one and try it out in the bathtub - with something other than the camera inside, of course.

No. But I would not try one either. Too much to lose. Concept is flawed and shooting thru soft vinyl is a compromise.

I used these for years while liveing on the beach near Cancun,MX -great for snorkeling - the main thing - like all underwater cameras & houseings- you need to make sure you follow the instructions to the "LETTER" or you will eventual get a leak - in 10 yrs of useing these I never had a leak nor did my friends who used them.- you will never regret buying it as it also is great to use in snow & rain - I used mine in a couple huricanes. lmao

Don't knock it 'till you tried it.
No it is not for pro shots but darn good for it's purpose - special plastic in the lens area works like a UV filter - maybe blurry to a pro but for the tourist wanting photos of thier trip they work fine the seal & locking is superb - just don't abuse it like all underwater gear - I have seen mega $ cameras lost in mega $ UW houseing too.
Just my humble experiance.

Good point. Not knowing much about the product, I was skeptical about trusting it to protect a decent DSLR.

I'm at the point that I have an older DSLR with a reliable housing & remote strobe for my diving vacations, and a new waterproof Canon P&S that is good to 30 feet for most snorkling and beach activities.

Sorry. I guess I'm getting too set in my ways to trust a glorified zip-Lok bag without more information.
You just provided that missing information. Thanks!!

When I moved to the beach there in MX I was no newcommer - I had been visiting for a week or 2 fot 15 yrs- my expectations of haveing a decent underwater camera set up was destroyed by the cost - same as scuba diveing - but snorkeling around the reef in the fron yard provided me with soo much at zero cost. same as that bag - as you know the P&S does not give proper lighting so it did only work under prime visability conditions and very close up as well as shallow. Again fortunatly the Mexican Bartrier Reef is at surface level at Puerto Morelos, MX and 1/4 to 1 mi off shore.

Harvey, if you still go snorkling, look into an underwater flash with an optical slave trigger. The flash on my underwater P&S (see below) can trip the optical slave on an independent off camera flash and viola!! You can get a pretty decent underwater image with all vibrant colors. Sometimes I just lay the flash down on a reef pointing in the direction I want and shoot from another vantage point a few feet away. Should work very well with the camera you use in the underwater bag.

Would you really put a $5000 camera in a $3 ziplock bag and actually shoot through it? I hope it comes with a warranty that will cover your damaged gear when it leaks. No way I would risk it myself.

If you can afford a $5,000 camera you would be able to afford the UW camera that you trusted. I know I would have had at least a Sea& Skie $500 combo. set w/proper lighting bar.

No I moved back here to stay- wifie is too disabled to travel by air - terminals & transfers get to her.
Besides that stay was far more than I ever expected - been there done that & have photos as well as the T shirt.
Thanks for the advice.

Hold on there MT!
That's a $5.70 premium model Zip-Lok bag!
(British pounds vs American dollars).
I wouldn't trust the $3 model either!

Well in that case, I couldn't afford one anyway!

I have taken DSLR's out in Kayaks and Canoes and placed them into two 2 gallon Zip Lock Freezer bags filled with air, (ballooned) just in case of a mishap... The air would float the camera so that it would not sink.. But I am not so sure that I would want to use any bag type thing to protect my camera underwater. I think that I would first consider a smaller compact underwater camera for a cost much less than a DSLR housing as for me anyway I don't think that my camera would get that much use underwater... My kid uses a GoPro for his fishing and diving trips and brings back some great underwater video, you can also purchase point and shoots that will do the same.

The Canon Powershot D20 is a great choice for underwater snorkling (up to 20 to 30 feet, specs say 33 feet).
The D20's GPS feature is neat as you can automatically use the coordinates from each photo in Lightroom (and other software) to map on Google Earth where each photo was taken. Pretty impressive.
