enlarger question

I'm looking for a used enlarger that will be able to handle up to 4X5 negatives. I really like some of the older Omegas. Can someone suggest an enlarger?
Thanks, Frank

There are so many enlargers for sale or give away it is possible to end up with too many. Both Omega and Beseler are great. I was an Omega D2 fan until I bought a clean and perfect Beseler 45 MX for $20. It is motorized and flips to horizontal for big wall prints. Very handy.

I have found the enlarger is not quite secondary to all the parts you need with it. Such as lenses, negative holders, light source and easels. They will cost more than the enlarger unless of course you find a package deal.

All the Omega 4x5 D2-5 are very similar. Condition is the biggest variable. I recommend shopping Craigslist in all cities within a 100 miles. Look for package deals. But beware once you have this stuff you may find you cannot sell or even give away any you do not want!

Today I am giving away a NOS 7x2 foot fiberglass darkroom sink to be used as a garden potting sink. I have too many sinks. I have too many enlargers also but I will deal with that.

BTW where are you located? I could make you a deal...

If you're not in a hurry you might find one for free. Check local junior colleges too. I couldn't give away a D2 I had and the only ugly part was the baseboard. Same with a Beseler B23C XL I had. I had switched to a "hybrid" process where I was shooting film, but scanning the negs with what was at the time a high end flat bed scanner. (some might argue that's an oxymoron). I have to say it tore me up a bit to junk that stuff.

I have a couple Omega D5XLs with Chromegatrol Color Head, Zone VI cold light head, Ilford Multigrade Head, and condensor head in very good condition I would be willing to sell. I also have a bunch of good 4 blade adjustable easels, and various lab sundries. The location is North Hollywood, CA.
