Nick Foles, Backup Quarterback to the Philadelphia Eagles, has pulled off another post season victory, because of a missed field goal with seconds remaining in the final quarter of play. Cody Parkey, the field goal kicker, has had problems in the regular season missing field goals. But, the Offense scored enough points to offset his previously missed field goals. Not this time. He signed a multi-year million dollars guaranteed contract. So, he gets paid regardless of his abilities. I was actually rooting for the Bears. They had a 12-4 regular season. The Eagles barely got into the Playoffs with a 9-7 regular season. Can Nick Foles win back to back Superbowls?

Everybody raves about how great Carson Wendt is but is is Nick Foles who brings home the bacon. 3 cheers to Nick Foles from me.

Slo-mo video shows Parkey's kick was actually tipped by a Philly special teams player, which altered the trajectory of the ball and resulted in the double doing off the upright and the crossbar. His previous kick a few seconds earlier, which was negated by a timeout called by Philly, easily sailed through the uprights and would have been the game winner.

I saw that story on ESPN. I tell you, the Field Goal Kicker can be the Scapegoat or the Hero. The Eagles froze the kicker with a timeout just before the ball was kicked. The next kick was bad. Icing the kicker by calling a timeout, has become commonplace in the NFL. In this case, it worked.

Nick Foles has beaten the best Defense in the NFL two years in a row en route to a chance to reach the Superbowl. Not only did he defeat Tom Brady in last year's Superbowl, but he was the Most Valuable Player of the Superbowl. My advice to Carson Wentz, the starting Quarterback. Don't get hurt before the regular season ends. It has consequences for you. Nick Foles, most likely will be traded to another NFL Team next season. As a starter and not a backup. Philadelphia can't afford to pay a backup Quarterback, an equivalent pay as its Starter in the future..

Breaking NFL News: The Green Bay Packers have hired as their head coach, 39 year old Matt LaFleur, Offensive Coordinator of the Tennessee Titans. It is claimed he will be a good fit to get Aaron Rodgers back up to MVP shape next year. The Packers are in the same division as the Bears. If only Parkey had made that field goal. The Bears would have had another game. Maybe even made it to the NFC Championship Game?

Some hearts did, in fact, exult. And shouts of joy escaped the lips. As beer was drunk, into the mind it sunk. Da Iggles won!

I'm sorry that the sports news folks didn't spend more time showing the Bear's mascot as he "passed out" when the ball bounced out if the end zone. Being from the Philadelphia area, I have seen the Eagle defender tip the ball at least 50 times on the local news, and in the background is the "Bear" falling to the ground in apparent disbelief. Better to br lucky than good. Go Eagles.

Field Goals are a part of football such as tackling. You miss a tackle, it could cost you the game. Yes, I did see the Mascot fall in disbelief. Can you blame him. Some Field Goal kickers get millions of dollars in contracts. Coach Ryan, previously of the Buffalo Bills, and the son of Buddy Ryan, who orchestrated that fearsome Defense of the 1984-85 Superbowl Chicago Bears, said he has no sympathy for the Kicker Cody Parker. These opportunities don't come often. You can always say, wait till next year. Really????

The bears loss is on them selves if they would have rolled over in Minnesota they would have played the Vikings in the first round and that would have been a cake walk for da bears

The Bears have no one to blame but themselves for that loss. I suppose if they had scored another touchdown, Cody Parkey's field goal would not have been needed. They let a Wildcard team with a 9-7 record come in their house, and hold them to a measly 15 points. Not good. But, Parkey should have made that kick. He had problems before. They have already invested millions of dollars in him already. He can't be any worse next year. Can he?

The Wall Street Journal published a study where someone analyzed if "icing the kicker" by calling a timeout just before the kicker makes his field goal attempt had any outcome on the game. The conclusion was that "icing the kicker by calling timeout" had no statistical influence on negatively affecting the kicker's attempt and was an old strategy mainly based on superstition. In this case, the superstition worked!
