Yowza.....lovely photo for sure. There is simply no way to hand hold my 600mm Sigma and get a steady shot though I have gotten creative with bracing when my tripod is not handy. 300mm with a doubler is the smarter approach. Very well done!

Well, my lens is a 300mm X 2x extender = 600mm. It weighs about 5.25 lbs. plus the camera and 2x extender = about 8 lbs total. I'm 75 and have hand held my shots for 7 years. Below is a photo of my camera/lens/extender combo. Thank you very much, MechEng.
