It seems many if not most of us on here are intrigued by and seeking better quality images. However, on reflection, there’s other values in photography. Having just been going over some family photos I was struck by another aspect, our ability to record history or change. Regardless of the quality of an image, images do record a time and place. An example of what I’m thinking, our granddaughters:

Cameras are used for many things. There are photos for art, keep sake, memories, data or a record of something, time lapse, history, forensics, fashion, news, politics, and a lot I haven't though of.

For me, looking at old family photo's is priceless, its like going back in time. I only wish my parents and friends of the family would have marked on the back of the photo's where it was taken and who is in the photo when they were taken a century ago.

another vote for preserving memories of travel and family life;i.e. once a year my friend and I look back at our Africa pictures and relive the experience all over again.

As a police officer and a first responder photography stops time, especially when your time to record a scene is limited and in many cases there is to much to list, or draw. Also , many years ago a Chinon salesman was selling the “new” sound movie camera and was saying his son had passed away and all he had of him was the sound movies.

Time it was, and what a time it was, it was....

I have found, over the course of the past few years, that those images captured by my comrades while in a quaint little country called Vietnam are becoming more and more valuable. I seem to be the one who those images are brought for reconstruction. These pictures are for the most part 50 years old and have been relegated to the back drawer for all those years. I don't believe I've seen one that I can print right off. I can tell you that every one of them is priceless. Lousy pictures, but priceless....
