I cut a piece of Zebra wood to keep my pinky from slipping off the bottom. I want to use some sort of material between the camera and the wood. Any suggestions?

The camera might be a little too new to have general support from accessory manufacturers such as Gariz, https://gariz.com.au/collections/nikon-cases however, just wait a bit. Gariz has made beautiful leather half cases for many brands which have the added advantage of adding significant height for the mirrorless bodies. I love what their case has done for my Fuji XT3. Do a bit of investigative work on your own, you will find something.

I'm not looking for an accessory. What I need is already shown in the picture. Just looking for something to prevent scratching.

Although Zebra is fairly hard, I doubt it would scratch the metal unless you capture some grit between it and the body. Nice job BTW, I might make one myself 🤗.

You are probably right. It's just that if I keep rotating it out of the way to change the battery I thought a little protection might be good.
I tried it today once the finish dried and it feels much more comfortable.

Just an FYI...Allergies/Toxicity: Although severe reactions are quite uncommon, Zebrawood has been reported as a sensitizer. Usually most common reactions simply include eye and skin irritation. See the articles Wood Allergies and Toxicity and Wood Dust Safety for more information.

I've made all sorts of thing I've needed for photography in a machine shop. For plastic parts, I've used delrin, nylon, and polyurethane. I order the materials from MSC Industrial supply. I made this Arca-Swiss plate for my 80-400mm lens and used a polyurethane that has a durometer of 95 for the lens support piece. That was just hard enough to machine without tearing the material but soft enough not to mar the lens. You can get it in different thicknesses and hardnesses.
You could make that entire piece out of 1/2" or 3/4" thick polyurethane. It would eliminate having two pieces that would shift around. I still have plenty of the material. I could cut a piece and send it to you.

A piece of thin rubber would work. You can cut it to size.
