One of my self-assigned projects is shooting Ohio’s lighthouses. I want to shoot them all with my Intrepid 4x5 camera. This shot was with the Intrepid with a Nikon 150/5.6 & HP5+ developed in HC110 (B). I like the leading lines, white on the dock and the dark shadow from a reflection of a utility pole. Interested in yall’s thoughts. This, along with the barn I also posted is one of my first 10 4x5 images. I used a sepia treatment on this shot.
I like it, but think I would crop off the reflection. To me, it is distracting.

I rather like the reflection, but given the size of the negative, you could certainly make a useable image without the reflection. I think it loses a bit of sense of place by getting rid of the foreground water. IMHO, the lake, in the background, looks too much like a farm field and the lighthouse looks out of place.
Shutterbug, I hadn’t noticed how much like land the background was. I guess I just “assumed” it was water. You are right.
