Thanks, Mike. This was at the end of a long ride through a rather narrow box canyon. The ominous part was well past us, as some of the "road" was left to one's imagination. Again, thanks for the comment.

Where do they go? They just end abruptly before they reach the vanishing point.

Hi, NikonGal. Thanks for stopping and commenting. The track is a UP track and continues East, the direction of view in this photograph, for a considerable distance. Westerly, it travels eventually through Gilbert, Az, Mesa, Az, Tempe, Az, and eventually into Phoenix just north of Sky Harbor Airport. From there, it goes west probably to the coast.
Considering the time to set up the camera, etc., I was fortunate to have a friend as a lookout for any approaching trains from either direction. If it weren't for him being there, I'd probably not have thought about taking this particular photograph, as it's an active track.

They proceed down a slight grade at the point they disappear from sight. The tracks continue for a considerable distance both East, direction of view in the photograph, and West, in the direction towards Phoenix.
