I have found out this package is imported meaning the canon warranty is not in effect. The seller on e-bay gives there own 1 yr warranty. The camera and lenses are supposed to be new. I will receive it tomorrow. What makes it different and aren't pretty much all cameras made off shore. It is a canon 80-D with three canon lenses, bought through Tri-State Camera. Any Thoughts?

The full Canon warranty would have been nice, but the failure rate on modern DSLR's is very low (not non-existent, but very low) so it is doubtful you will ever need the warranty. Welcome to the hog and enjoy your new toys!!! Get out and shoot when it arrives!!

Looks like you got a "gray market" camera. That means it was intended by Canon for markets outside the US, so you don't have a Canon US warranty, and can't be serviced by Canon US service centers.

Assuming the camera is fully functional, there is no difference between it and a camera that was meant for the US market. Same product off of same assembly line. The ONLY difference is where the factory warranty is valid.

Too bad the seller didn't tell you this up front. Unethical and deceptive.

Before you start asking questions on UHH, read your manual. Then read it again. And again. Lots to learn about features, functions, capabilities. Lots of which you may well never have any use for.

It will be fine (if you bought on Ebay you have a lot of protection, built in). I'm not a Canon guy (I do own a 10 yr. old canon P&S that is still an excellent little camera, I use it to this day). I have Sony and Nikon DSLRs, but the camera you bought is a well respected piece, capable of excellent performance.. You (if you don't have a lot of experience with complicated DSLR's) should spend some time in the owners manual, and look for a good guide book to help you come up to speed quickly.

You have a wonderful trip planned, and some time to get your game to a higher level, make good use of that time, shoot with it often, and challenge yourself to emulate pictures you might get to shoot in a place like Alaska. Look for technical tips, folks like Steve Perry, Doug Gardner, https://asonp.org/wpcms/ and other local Alaskan Photogs will help, to see what you will encounter, and how to go about making the images you desire, you have an opportunity for astounding images.

Don't worry so much about the claptrap stuff, your gear should be just fine. Good luck and have fun with it, I'm 50 years into it and still learning and still having fun!
Cheers, olemikey

I did a lot of research for a new DSLR camera. I ended up with a canon 80-D with 3 lenses. 18-135mm 55-250mm and a 50mm prime lens. I guess opinions don't matter now because its on the way. Hope I chose well. looking forward to asking more questions once I receive and start using it.

Welcome to the forum. I have had my 80D for two years now and am very happy with it. The EF-S 18-135 is my most used lens. If you're happy with the reach of the 55-250 (which I'm guessing it is an EF-S), I would consider the EF-S 10-18 for those wide scenery shots; it's very sharp and I'm really happy with mine. If you need more reach, consider the EF 70-300, which will give you almost twice the reach as the EF-S 55-250. I highly recommend the book "Canon EOS 80D for Dummies." This will give you much useful information on how to get the most out of your camera.

Thanks, I am going to buy it this week. It is a little over whelming to try to disseminate all that

the camera is capable of. I was at Best Buys here in Wilmington NC and they have hired a person

that has been shooting wild life ie birds and bees for 30 years to be on the floor to answer

questions free of charge. I went back to see him and was very happy with some of the

suggestions he had. Thanks for your comments
