Hello everyone. I was wondering if anyone could give me some advice on choosing a compact digital camera. I am currently shopping for a compact camera to supplement my DSLR (Canon 7D). I would like to use a compact camera for casual picture taking. There are so many to choose from. Currently, I am looking at Canon S100 and Panasonic Lumix ZS20. My budget is around $350. Should I look for different cameras? Thank you all.

The Panasonic ZS 20 is so awesome . My boyfriend and I just bought one each to use on vacation when I couldn't use my d7000, and he bought it as his main camera . We took many of the same pictures and it was hard to tell which one was the zs20 or the d7000 at times. I was actually upset. We were in sand dunes in Namibia and he put it on paintbrush setting by accident and the color of the dunes and sky were awesome . It has a 20x zoom on it and if you zoom all the way the pics can be blurry or noisy. Also when really cropping doesn't look like the d7000. At first I purchased the Nikon I think it was the 9300 or something like that and brought it back . But the ZS20 was amazing .

If it ain't got a viewfinder, don't buy it!
Try a Canon G series.

I like viewfinders, but they are becoming harder to find. My last P&S purchase does not have one. You might want to take a look at Sony. They have added several capabilities to their cameras - like panorama, for example. GPS is also available on more cameras, but I bought a GPS Sony, and it took too long for the GPS to get a signal - back it went.

Whatever suits your fancy. I have a Canon Powershot that has both auto and manual settings. It takes great shots.

I have had an Olympus XZ1 for a while. It is first class with a 1.8 wide angle zoom lens. No viewfinder, but have recently purchased a bolt on finder which is excellent.
