I had finished running some errands, had a little time, and suddenly realized that in the late afternoon with the wind out of the Southwest ( unusual to get the wind out of the Southwest here) I might be able to get frontal shots of the Ospreys around the nest site - but to do so, I needed to fight my way thru a brushy trail to gain the correct/close perspective.
Spent about half an hour in the brush and came up with this. The Sun was very low and diffused with a warm color and the wind and Sun both at my back- (which meant the Osprey would be facing into the wind and Sun). In PP, I have corrected for the warm white balance ( even tho I ONLY ever shoot JPEG ! ).
Not sure WHAT the Osprey is carrying - but she was eating on it - NOT a fish - but maybe part of a crab ??
Canon 80D, Canon 400 prime W/1.4X II from monopod, 1/1250, f8, ISO 640 @ 4:36 PM Palm City Florida. DOF is very shallow ! About 20% crop.
..
That is AWESOME!!! Great work knowing the conditions and getting into the correct spot.
Way to go!
Outstanding! You had to work to get it, but the result was worth it.

Great shot imagemeister, love the download, looks like a fish head, they chew the head off before starting to eat at the shoulder, She might have dropped the body off to her mate
Neat!! Brave to go into those bushes!! Looks like part of a fish of some sort to my untrained eye. You're having some pretty good luck there lately!!
An outstanding shot Larry!
I simply can't get enough of you & Regis Tolbin's birds of prey images. BTW, took the tour of your site and loved the comment in your introduction of 'financially challenged'. I resemble that remark and am swiping it~~~

Nice shot Larry. Great job at reading the conditions and knowing how to get the shot you're looking for. And, you found it. Congratulations.
