I am new to this forum. I wonder if any one else has had a problem with focusing a sigma 85mm1.4 on a Nikon 850. All my other lenses work ok.

More info please. Are you talking Manual focus, auto focus? Does it show focus at any depth. What all have you tried to correct it? Any info you have would be helpful.

I tried it on auto focus, BBF. I can manually focus no problem. Other Sigma and Nikon lenses work fine

If it's an AF lens, maybe the contacts on the lens need cleaning....

or the op hasn't admitted that there could be an adapter involved which would lead me to say the lens can't locate infinity..

I had a Sigma 90mm macro that stopped focusing. Sent it to Sigma under warranty and they repaired it, n/c.

I am guessing this was the older 85mm F1.4 DG HSM lens and not the newest 85mm F1.4 ART lens?

It is the newer art lens that I have not used in a while, and the contact cleaning solved the problem

This unfortunately is not unheard of with Sigma lenses in general. Call Sigma and see what they recommend.

Send it back to Sigma and don't waste your time messing around with it. I just did so for my 50mm Art lens and Sigma readjusted focus and it is so sharp again, just like when it was new. Overall, took about 3 weeks turn around time.
