I spotted this cave while hiking in upper Bidwell Park on New Years looking for Native American grinding stones.
It was far up on a bluff. So today I decided to attempt to reach it, after scrambling through loads of dormant poison oak and ticks I reached it. I have now found an easier way in to it after working my way back out.
I plan to go back in spring to photograph the milkyway from it.
I like to go to sacred Native sites and try to imagine what it felt like to live in those times.
I will add the image if grinding stones I found as well.
Thank you for looking.

B+ Good way to scope out new locations I do the same and place these locations on an offline navigation app for later use.

Good work! I look forward to your Milky Way shots from there. BTW in reference to your inquiry about future Nikon research, Canon just announced all the new lenses from them for 2019 will be mirrorless.

I spotted this cave while hiking in upper Bidwell ... (show quote)

Doesn't look like a cave to me, or is there actually an opening in the sides, that one could enter?

Nice find. Should make a dandy place to shoot the milky way, if the opening is facing the right direction! What month do you plan to be shooting the night sky?

Really like both pictures! May I suggest you level the horizon in the first one.
