As anyone participated in this photography challenge and if so, did you think it was a worthwhile exercise?

I know one person who has done similar and said it encouraged her to stay creative and enthusiastic. Did you see there's a Facebook group? https://www.facebook.com/groups/dogwood.52.challenge/

I kind of like the idea of random. Create a wheel and "spin" it https://wheeldecide.com/

I could never last for a full year, I'm afraid. However, I've gone out with specific goals in mind several times, based on something I've read (telephoto landscapes) or an idea from someone on UHH, including the weekly challenges. A fun and valuable way to think for a day or an hour.

That's my concern, too.

What's more you have to give two critiques each week using the "sandwich" method (something good followed by what's wrong with the photo and closing with encouragement).

Linda, you seem to be an excellent critiquer, but for me it's a struggle.

Thank you for the follow up and link.

Jason

Oh, I didn't read about the critique requirement. It's a great idea, but - your lovely compliment notwithstanding - I often struggle with what to say and how to say it. Nothing to do with attempting to be kind or gentle, just being able to process what I see into some kind of coherent sentence or two There are many folks on UHH far better at that than I. Some of that has to do with education in art, which I lack.

I can see where that requirement, combined with it being for a full year, could be daunting. But you could always do the suggestions on your own and post to UHH for critique.
