A foggy day at the Long Island Maritime Museum, looking out over the Great South Bay. Simple photo which hopefully evokes a mood. You are welcomed to edit if you are so inclined. Stats are: ISO 400- 75mm-f/10-1/400
Critique, comments and suggestions always welcomed. Thanks

I like the composition of the shot with the tree off center and I think you have a good start but it doesn't come across as moody to me. I think I understand what you are trying for. I felt it was a little overexposed so I adjusted that. I reduced the clarity and increased the contrast to give the tree more of a feeling of being in the fog. I also cropped the foreground so that the curve with no grass sort of mimics the curve of the shoreline in reverse. Thanks for letting me play with it.

For me there is too much color and detail for a weather-related mood. For something like loneliness or solitude, I'd like to see more empty real estate or a winter shot (no leaves on the tree, in particular). Is there another mood you had in mind?

I enjoyed Keni's darker version. My idea takes the foggy conditions a different way.

Good job Keni, I like your edit and detailed comment, but I may have left the exposure a bit brighter....as fog tends to do that.

Interesting edit Linda....it may convey more of a mood. When I took the photo the only mood I had was one of a hot, steamy day if my memory serves me well. So really, any mood it imparts to a viewer is fine with me....as long as it stimulates something. I did whip up a couple mono versions which you may like better.

OK, hot and steamy it is

Of your two newest, the sepia (?) seems a nice study of the tree itself, though a little selective dodging and burning within the branches might bring out the details better.

Well........your newest edit could be "hot and steamy" but it hurts my eyes some.

I should have provided a warning that sunglasses are recommended

Some day the sun will burp and all life will be gone from this planet. I think you have captured what that end may well look like.

Very vibrant, it makes me want to go swimming there. Have to watch those roots though.
