Dash cam

It not that i want a dash cam although i have been thinking about them. It seem a some companies have come out with dash cams that have 4K abilities.

I've seen the prices for "cheap" units are just over $120 USD. For anything that is relatively good it's around $400 or more.

Most of my life I've been building and reverse engineering things for something other than what its intended. As normal i thought about my Samsing Gear 360 camera.

Most have no doubt already put 2 +2 together as to what I'm gett to. My Gear 360 presently only costs about $70 USD. It has 4K and very good camera recording abilities plus i have controlled it from my auto when it was 50 feet away, for many minutes, and saved directly to my smartphone.

Sure it doesn't have the "save on a bump" ability but for the price savings, i think it's good enough.

Anyone else ever use something like that?

I use a standard "action cam" from ThiEye as a dash cam in all 3 of my vehicles ($50). They have "car" mode so they come on and record anytime the vehicle is started, and stop 2 minutes after power is removed. They also offer WiFi and an app for the phone to control remotely. They do 4K but I only use them at 1080 as 4K is such a memory hog. I use 32GB Micro SD cards and onmly have to clear my main camera once every 10 days or so. The Jeep and Truck cameras I have to clear the cards every couple of months.

I installed a dash cam a while back when Jerry was talking about them. It's a dedicated dash cam that records about 8 hours and overwrites as needed. It's small and does not draw attention (theft) and comes on when I start the car and has the ability to record when movement is detected but, that requires full time power.
I don't know how big the Gear 360 is but, you don't want a window broken out when the thieves go after it.
