They really are great memories for me also, and looking at your poor battered black swallowtail in the second image reminded me of some in a similar condition which we had last fall. The black swallowtails would float along slowly over the blooming lantana and butterfly bushes in our perennial garden and the ruby-throated hummingbird would fly out and sometimes take a plug out of its wings because it considered the garden its territory.
The second was actually hitching a ride on our car. Thanks for your comments.
