Second rider on the grey is a bit snug with the reins, I think, and both need their toes in. Great photos, though.

Thanks for the info....since it was the first event for me to see and I know nothing about horses I cannot rebut your critique!
I totally agree. The grey is actually fighting those tight reins. The sorrel is jumping nicely, with feet tucked evenly and a nice set to the head. And yes, both riders have their toes out. But they appear to be youngish, so they will improve.
Wow....I would be doing good if I could just hang on and stay on the horse!

After attending several events you will be hearing the coaches talk about the proper positions. Listen to the judges critiques and you'll find out how to critique the riders for yourself. It's fun to see most of these young riders progress in a season. Look at the older (not age but time riding) and compare with the younger and see how the mount responds to proper riding etiquette.
