Mohave on iMac 27i

There have been several threads here on this topic. I had reported troubles updating at one time and reinstalled the old OS.
I finally bit the bullet just before our Christmas travel and did the install before we left for two weeks. I was thinking I would return to success or disaster. Good News! Success! Mojave is running fasted than the old system and has many improvements. I can now recommend the version without reservation. Good Luck! (Always needed).

Your opinion regarding “Dark” mode?

All a matter of taste. After a few weeks in dark mode, I didn’t like reading emails that way so I switched back.

As long as it was made after 2012, or so. Otherwise, stick with your current OS.

My Mojave experience is in flux right now. I purchased a 2018 MBPro--2.6/16GB/512GB two weeks ago and immediately upgraded from High Sierra to Mojave. The computer ran very hot (my opinion) and the battery life was horrible. I did multiple tests and tracked my usage for the better part of the week. I went into Apple and discussed this with a genius. I took home a new computer--exact same.
I set it up and did not install Mojave. It has run perfectly well for the last 5 days. I called AppleCare to discuss any possible issues with Mojave. Of course they told me not to their knowledge.
I am in the process of upgrading to Mojave right now. Hopefully, it will be fine. If interested, I will keep this thread posted.

No update issues for me having updated a 3-4 month old 27” iMac to Mojave. I did wait quite a while for the dust to settle before taking the plunge.
For what it’s worth, I don’t like “dark mode”. I don’t see a benefit, but I’m somewhat openminded and willing to change if I hear a good reason for using it.

Good to hear that the iMac update went fine. MacBook Pro update first test did not go well. Battery life no good

Tried it...too dark so could not see highlighting. Found a defaults write command that sets Dark Mode for only menubar and Dock...and that one is about perfect for me.

More update...
Mojave update on new machine also has pitiful battery life.
Restored High Sierra and all working as advertised. Clearly Apple has a problem with their 2018 computers (MBPros only???) running Mojave. They do run much hotter and the battery life is as bad as 25-30% of 10 hour claim. The hot machine now makes sense since there are system applications that are running wild and causing the battery to drain quickly. Heat is a by-product of the processors running on 'high'.
Let's hope that Apple addresses this issue sooner than later.

Good to know. I have a mid-2012 MPB. Given the info here I am going to pass on Mojave. Besides, I doubt that Canon Image Browser EX will run on it.
