Suggestions for side trip

The first week in February I have a for business trip to LA. Any suggestions for a photography side trip? I’m not familiar with LA having not been there in 20+ years. Someone mentioned Death Valley. Is that a realistic add on? If it is where would you go and where would you stay? Thanks in advance.

I was there in June. Hollywood and the sidewalk of the stars was dirty and rundown, big disappointment.
There are more than plenty of exotic cars in this area that make good subjects.
USS Iowa was worth it. Take a 10-20 mm lens for interior shots.
Death Valley is great, but the distance is great also, not really possible for a day trip.
Get to the beach north of Ventura, you can spend a day there.

My personal suggestions:
The Getty Museum (must reserve, free)
Venice and other beaches
San Diego - well worth the effort as it is soooooo much nicer than LA. Less traffic, smog and crime. Great things are La Jolla Cove, Balboa Park, the Zoo, the Wild Animal Park, Sea World, the Gaslamp Quarter (downtown), the beaches (particulary Wind'n'sea, Pacific and Mission for surfing, rollerblading, people watching)
