Other groups, such as the Center for Migration Studies, have similarly estimated that visa overstays account for about two-thirds of the total number of people joining the undocumented population in any given year.

“The number attempting to get across the Southern border is probably the lowest it's been since at least the 1970s,” said Robert Warren, a demographer with the Center for Migration Studies. “I'm surprised the [Trump] administration hasn't really focused on overstays. That's where the action is.”"

Notwithstanding this opinion quote you lifted from the Washington Post my sense of this is that most of the overstays are not criminal i******s. Those are the folks who cross the border without documentation. The expenditure of time and $$ would be better served by protecting our borders rather than going after some student who overstayed his/her visa.

A great big beautiful wall will not solve the problem.

Actual border security will help.

Trump and team have only spent a very small amount of the money that congress gave them in 2018 for actual border security.

Politically, that’s empty info unless trump’s base understands—which they don’t.

It’s certainly an easier issue to alarm the ignorant masses about. No sense being logical or reasonable.

This is absolute baloney—wipe the oatmeal off your chin, grandpa!

It is exactly opposite of the t***h, though it must be one of your dreams.

Things exist regardless of what you say, and no one changes the subject, gets more personal in name-calling, or dishes out more denial than conservatives.

Facts is facts, and they exist for all to see.

Fortunately the Trump base is in the minority.

Hopefully the 2020 e******ns will put an adult in the white house and we will be able to repair some of the damage the 'Child in Chief' and Putin has done to our country.

No border security, sanctuary state has cost another American life, Cpl. Ronil Singh. Taken away from his family permanently Christmas day.
How many lives must be taken and families separated and destroyed, children's parents murdered and children murdered before we get serious and seal the borders and remove the scum that are here illegally destroying lives.

Every sanctuary politician has the blood of Officer Singh on their hands.
They all should be arrested for murder and suffer the same fate as Officer Singh, Kate Stienly...

What are you talking about? Do you have a number for how much of the $1.6B which was earmarked for border security in the March 2018 omnibus spending bill has not been spent?? And, border security includes all measures taken on security. Not just the wall. Surely that is not difficult to understand.

Border security has nothing to do with Trump's wall.

So far there has been approx. 2.25 miles of existing fence that has been repaired.

I know you will ask about sources, do yourself a favor and research it yourself.

If you find out that I am wrong I would appreciate it if you would inform me of the correct facts
