Well I would try to get a wider zoom, down around 14. It just depends on your budget. I am thinking these are all older lenses, without VR? That would be my next move. Replacing them with newer lenses with VR. Makes a big difference when you are in low light. VR will give you 1-2 stops more. Those are pretty good lenses tho. I have all of them. :) But the new glass they are coming out with now is very good. I just got the 28-300 last year and I hardly ever take it off the camera. Makes me lazy it is so sharp. :)

I have a lot of film lens in AI-S. I agree a true 24 mm is a great item.As far as going with al Vr sounds great but i have to careful where i spend money right now.
Have shot a lot with a bipod and i am pretty good at slow speeds i can hand hold down to 1/8 and still get useable images.I thank shooting slides for that talent,we didnt have Photoshop,or VR,or a wide latitude for exporuse.

I agree with Erv on finding a wide-angle lens, although I probably wouldn't feel it's too important to replace any of the other lenses.
I didn't see a circular polarizing filter on your list...I would be sure to have one of them.
Nice deal!

Don't get me wrong. What you have are great lenses. But I am getting older and like the VR. :) I still use all of my older lenses and they still take an awesome photo. With what you have you should be able to shoot till midnight.:) And if you take the monopod maybe even till 1 Am. :) But a wider lens would be nice to get an over all view of it. Your next problem will be how many to take. :)

LOL..you guys crack me up.
We have a very active CL here, took a lot of batering to end up with what i did.
I really like a 24mm myself, like the perspective it gives and your all right nothing beats it for a high angle group shot.
Im old myself..well 50. I will keep an eye out for one.Go to work tomorrow,so as i said in with both feet

ps on the 50mm and the 85 both have CirPol.Now the other 2 are 82mm and 72mm so no they dont have one..Yet.

If you buy a new CP. get one for your biggest lens then get step down rings for the other sizes. Will save to some money and you will have less to carry around. And you can get back a little money by selling the ones you have. :) OH, I am 61 going on 80 some days. :)

nikon has a decent 24 2.8 & it's not too expensive. tokina has a 12-24 f4. i think a tamron 2.8 100 macro would be nice for garden stuff & it makes a great portrait lens. a really versatile tripod would be nice also. you got a heck of a deal on that set-up

If weddings is on your horizon, the 17-50 f/2.8 range is the one to have. Arguably the most useful lenses for cropped sensor cameras for the events you mention.

Get the Nikon 10.5mm f 2.8 fisheye, get a 12-24mm zoom and then get the Nikon 28-300mm VRII and sell the rest, though you could keep the 50mm.

sell some really nice fast glass for a 28-300? curious. i have some vr glass but i don't think it's any better in low light than 1.4 or 1.8 glass. i just might be old school about that.

yes, only because none of his lenses are VR and he is better off reducing the number of lenses he has to do the same job. The 28-300mm Nikon VRII is an excellent lens, I'm assuming you have not tried it. I also have the Nikon 70-200 VR f 2.8 but the greater range of my new 28-300 means it mostly stays on now and I rarely use the 70-200 f2.8 unless I need that lower f stop for my wedding work. So the lenses I mentioned give him a far great range of mms than all the lenses he has listed and they are all excellent quality lenses and now he has only three that will cover far more than all his can and he'll have a VRII lens in the mix and it can be used on FX bodies. I'd say mst shooter here will usually be fine with a 3.5 or 4 lens and may rarely need the f1.8 or 1.4 lenses.
