just because 2 things happened at the same time, does not mean that 1 caused the other. Post Hoc Ergo Proptor Hoc.That happened therefore this happened. Example. Embrellas cause rain--you never see open umbrellas unless it's raining therefore umbrellas cause rain.

In the rain/umbrella example it’s more than just correlation. It’s not as simple as cause and effect but there is more of a relationship than same time same place. I’m thinking washing your car and rain might have been a better example.
