I keep at least one camera (preset for most parameters) on a nearby shelf set to allow me to grab it and go quickly in case of an unexpected photo opportunity. Have mixed feelings about a zoom vs. just a 50mm (FF) or 35mm (Crop). What do you favor?

My grab and go is a Sony RX10M4 - it's lens is permanently attached. And it's a zoom.

On my Olympus EM10 I keep my 20mm prime lens, it has a very small profile and the camera and lens will fit into my jacket pocket.
This M43 lens is equivalent to 40mm in full frame cameras.

50 mm 2.0 on Leica M-P 240

24-70 mm 2.8 on Sony A9

I carry each in a separate insulated lunchbox with charger, extra batteries, and my favorite manual.

I keep a Sony 16-250 on a Sony A77 most of the time. Handles most of my situations.

Having an old 10D for dirty work sites and where damage is a real possibility I only have an old 7D for our regular use camera (Don't have "Cameras") and keep the 24-105 on it all the time. Fits in the bag best that way.
