The first few prints from my San Diego trip.

I took a Christmas trip to San Diego this month because my mom has dementia and is getting progressively worse, I wasn't sure that she'd make it to her birthday in May (my normal visit time)

I'm not sure she knew precisely who I was but she was able to laugh and enjoy the moment and that was good.

For the picture of her and myself, I set my camera on a table and used the built in timer. The focus isn't dead-on but it's good enough for a 4x6 which is what is now in the photo album.

The other pictures are of a Cactus that I saw while walking in her neighborhood and my son (who I visited while I was in SD). I caught him right in the middle of a weird gesture...lol. Also the contact sheet from this roll.

This was just what was on the last of this roll, I have another full roll to develop plus a disposable color camera to get developed.

These are scans of the prints that I've made so far.

Nikon FE2
Kodak Tri-X @400.
Dev HC110B
Paper: Adorama glossy.

I especially like the shot of your son. Very well done.

I’m so sorry about your mother. I’m happy you’re able to treasure what time you have left with her.

Thanks! I can't wait to see what's on the roll still in the camera.

I'm also glad that I had that time...I dont think she'll make it to next Christmas.

Very emotional set. Dementia is a cruel killer. Treasure every moment you can. I only wish I had one more day, hour or even just another smile from my Mother.

The pic of you and your mom is one you will both cherish as long as you live! Print it, save it and cherish it.

It's hard to find the right words to say. I have a lot of experience with dementia, and it is a horrible disease. Like cancer, there are many different kinds of dementia, approx 73. When someone has a dementia other than Alzheimer's, the patient often goes on to develop Alzheimer's as a co-morbidity. I remember that as about 62-63%.
Another stat, patients tend to pass on at about 10 years from diagnosis. As others have said, you're to be commended for your trip to your mother and spending time with her. Many family members shun them.
Thank you for posting the pictures.
