Dangerous times indeed. Republicans are in dire need of getting their act together (to put it nicely).

Hopefully, their "act" is almost over. Have you noticed how well they have solved the health care issue? The immigration issue? The war in the Middle East issue? The deficit issue? The debt issue? The v**er rights issue?

I wouldn't expect them to even try to solve the wealth gap issue, but that's going to really cause a problem with the economy.

I wouldn't expect them to do anything about gun control; rural America doesn't have issues with guns, just those damn cities.

The fact that Republicans like Russia better than Europe is confounding.

The democrats aren't solving anything either. Two sides of the same coin. They're both good at sniping at each other and not much beyond that anymore.

There has always been a wealth gap. Always will be because the rich - democrat or republican - are going to make sure they stay rich. How do you expect that will change? Offering up platitudes to v**ers is meaningless.

Guns aren't the problem. They never were. They are a symptom of a disease, not the disease itself.

The rise of the middle class reflected a shrinking of the wealth gap, and a burgeoning economy. The rising wealth gap reflects a shrinking middle class, which will lead to a slumping economy.

Guns are a problem; they are readily available and used prolifically. The problems are two fold; mental health and poverty.

The country's been broke for a long time. Economic strength for the most part has been an illusion as it was under Obama. More and more empty houses, more unemployed. There will never be a solution to the wealth gap that people will be happy with. People always want more.

Used to be you could buy one at the hardware store. No checks, nothing. People could carry them anywhere and no one batted an eye. Now people have an irrational fear of them. Now children are brought up differently in this "me first" society. Parents don't parent anymore - they want to be buddies with their children. Children need guidance and discipline not iPhones, iPads and social media.

Reducing the wealth gap would be a start.

Most people do not have an irrational fear of guns; they have a rational fear of guns. You can't get shot by a person without a gun. If you live in a city, the principal use of a gun is to shoot someone. If you live in the country, the principal use of a gun is to shoot something other than a person.

I am not a hoplophobe (fear of weapons). I grew up with guns, hunted frequently (bigger game, but also you want dinner, go out and shoot a rabbit kind of hunting). I shot a lot of real guns in the Army. But people in the city don't hunt, they don't sport shoot; they use guns to rob and k**l or try to feel safe and protected.

There will never be an end to it.

I know quite a few people with an irrational fear of guns and politicians feed on that. All they know about them is what they've read which means they know nothing. Not many people have grown up with guns these days. It was no big deal when I was growing up and we lived in a city.

There are a LOT of h****rs and sport shooters who live in cities. Most sport shooters live in cities. So what if people have one for protection? It's a tool. It's a better tool than a baseball bat or a hammer.

It makes no sense to punish the majority because of a very tiny minority.

The majority do not own guns; 20-30%, and about 40% of households.

Even my brother, a very conservative retired colonel who supported Trump, now agrees that he is "f***ing insane". He says: "I wasn't worried when there were a lot of adults around him, but they are all leaving".

Re the wealth gap. In every society in every country there has always been a wealth gap. There will Always be a wealth gap. Why? Some people are smarter than others, some people are better at wealth building than others. And some people are just plain lucky. That's just the way it is. To think otherwise is utopian. The US has done more to help the poor that any other country in history. The mioddle class in the US lives a lot nore luxuirious life styles than 99% of the worlds [population. Do we have financial problems? of cource, but the repubs sre no better than the Dems at solving them
