Looks like Jabba the Hutt

Here's a ventral view of the caterpillar type insect that I found a few days ago and posted a face-to-face view yesterday. He reminds me of Jabba the Hutt from Star Wars.

👍 Keep at it! Your posts are a bright spot on these gloomy winter days.

Thanks for the feedback, we should have a break in the weather tomorrow so I'm hoping that I can spend some time in the woods looking for some new finds. If my luck holds, I may be able to catch one of those elusive centipedes that I've been coming across.

Kinda like a dragonfly. A face only a mother could live. Great macro.

Compared to this, a dragonfly is cute.
By the way, Henlopen park should be open for free in winter. Chance a bit later to see gravid(preggo) piebald deer, but now just nice because it is mostly empty.

First thing I did was get a lifetime state park pass as soon as I registered my car. I spend a lot of time at Herring Point, the hawk watch platform and Gordon's Pond. Can't wait for dragon season 2019. Surveying for streams and ponds in the county since I can see them now that the leaves are off the trees.
