This excerpt from Carl Sagan's book Pale Blue Dot (1994) was inspired by an image taken, at Sagan's suggestion, by Voyager 1 on Feb 14, 1990. From a distance of about 6 billion km Voyager 1, which had completed its primary mission and was leaving the Solar System, was commanded by NASA to turn its camera around and take one last photo of Earth across a great expanse of space, at the request of Carl Sagan. The accompanying words, written 27 yrs ago are still relevant today.

Yes...agreed. They are no more relevant today than they were 27 years ago when Carl Sagan wrote them without knowing what he's talking about. Waxing philosophically about moral topics while not being able to justify morality from his materialistic worldview...talking about how little worth humans have while not having the first inkling of whether that might be true or not. His words betray his knowledge of God's existence; he professes atheism while talking about how human's "should" behave as if he can justify it using an authoritative moral standard outside of God.
The earth was made specifically for humans by God. It's unique in that regard. We have worth because we are made in God's image. We should treat each other with basic respect because God commands us to do so.

That's great that you agree with what I said but I don't think I overreacted, I just pointed out obvious from the Christian perspective...that's all.
