Adjust the shadows in the first image to be a little brighter to reveal some detail, but not a lot. Then do the opposite in the bottom image. Darken the wood inside the room so it is not as bright. These will then get closer to what you saw.

Professional Photographers of America states than any person earning more than 50% of their income from photography is considered a professional photographer.
